Hello family! Just thought I might tell you all about a few highlights of the past little while--at least the ones I'm thinking of right now. The picture to the left is one of my roommate Erika, me, my roommate JilliAnne, and our friends Catherine and Lauren. This was taken before we went to a masquerade ball in SLC with some guys; our friends had dates but we just kind of asked three guys to come with us. The whole night was awesome! It was in a huge hall with a DJ and refreshments and an ice sculpture, I know, way better than ANY stake dance, right? Of course it wasn't a Mormon dance so there were some wierdos (not that there are never wierdos at stake dances) but all-in-all it was a lot of fun for us good, clean mormons!
The picture below is of me on Halloween at Red Robin. We kind of splurged cuz I had a coupon but it was way fun! I went with my roommate Laurien and our friend Garret and it was loads of fun; Laurien was a pictish archer maiden and Garret was an Emo kid. We loved it. Not much else to speak of about Halloween!
Not much to say about this picture either, except: P.J. Prom yay! Pyjamas+dancing=one crazy fun night!
Okay, this one it for Ruth, Rachel and Emily. I LOVED getting those letters from you guys so much! I showed them off to all my roommates and bragged about how I have such great--and adorable--nieces! These are your letters and pictures hanging on my wall.
And last, but not least, our lovely Christmas tree. Last night I went shopping for the basics with my roomies and we got distracted in the Christmas section. We found a tiny tree for $12.88 (it was three feet tall and had fiber optics on it) and then JilliAnne found the $20 six-foot tree and so we sprung for that one. We also got shatterproof bulbs (an essential in the dangerous college environment you know) and Laurien gave it a personal touch with her own random ornaments and an ornament she has that's an angel; it's tiny, but we put it on top anyway. I'm so excited for Christmas!
Anyways, thanks for reading about my random events and I cannot wait to see you all in just a few days!

toothache
ok this really isnt that exciting but I thought I would tell everybody just for kicks. Last week, I got a really bad toothache. I thought it would go away after a while but it didnt so I called Donna to get names for a good dentist. She recommended her dentist. Dr. Rogers is a very good dentist who used to know Grandma and Grandpa. I thought that was really cool. So, I went to the dentist yesterday and the dentist found a cavity. I was hoping that it wasnt a cavity but it was and so they started to fill it. So, yesterday I got a filling for my first cavity in my adult life. If you got this far I know you really love me cuz this is pretty much the most boring blog you will ever read. Love ya!

Homecoming with a new camera!
Ok so I thought that maybe I should give you an update on my(Mary) life now. A few weeks ago I bought a camera at the BYU lost and found sale for $95 which is a really good price considering it is a Kodak Easyshare. Not one of those small ones but a REAL camera with 7.1 mega pixels. Its amazing!!! So I took this camera to homecoming and when the coin toss was going on I took a picture of it. Jon and I have seats on the north endzone and this picture above is the picture of the coin toss and those people behind are on the South endzone! I know you are all jealous but its pretty cook isnt it? Anyway, it was alot of fun.
Jon and I are doing pretty good. We have been dating for 8 months now. He's not doing too much better with his sickness but he is dealing with it and hoping to go on some kind of mission that his health will allow. I'm very proud of him becuase he is still trying even though it is so hard for him. This is a picture of the home he built for me with legos. Dont worry though guys, he still really wants to go on a mission.
I finally chose a major. I have decided to go into the Family History major offered here at BYU. I'm pretty excited about it even though right now I dont know too much about how everthing works. I'm just going to trust in the Lord because He obviously knows that something will work out from it. If anyone has any information for me that I didn't already get from Mom and Dad please feel free to send it over! I love doing it!
Well I'd better get going. I love you all! I hope you are having a wonderful Day!

Nerd-dom
Hello everyone! I'd just like to let you all know that I (Liz) have officially reached the epitome of nerd-dom. Yes the picture to the left is the very poster hanging above my bed in my new room.
I think everyone who reads this knows about Dr. Who so I don't think I need to explain about that. However, I'd just like to say that I love having a show that is so satisfying every time I watch it.
I can't wait for the next time I can watch a new adventure and chew my nails down a little more from the anxiety of it all. One thing that makes me sad though, the Doctor is all alone now. I really need to re-watch those last two episodes so I can really understand what happened--and then maybe I'll be a little more satisfied with the Rose-Doctor ending. Anyway, thought I'd let you know that I love this show and I am extremely tempted to get one of those "The Angels Have the Phone Box" t-shirts. LOVE IT!
In other news, I just went to see Prince Caspian--can I get any other opinions on this??--and I was a little disappointed. Not up to par I think. It attempted to have the tone of a serious film with some comedic relief. However, I thought they overdid it on the "relief" and took it clear to hoakiness (I know it's not a word but, you catch my drift). It was difficult to take anything seriously, especially when the first movie had pulled that tone off so well in the first place. It seems to me that they saw what a success Stardust was and tried, unsuccessfully, to follow in it's large foot-steps. In my opinion, you don't ruin a good story with what you think the people want. Nobody knew they really liked pirates until the first Pirates of the Caribbean came out. And no one really knew they didn't want anymore pirates until the second Pirates of the Caribbean came out and ruined that idea, followed closely by the third; which crushed any remaining desire any of us may have had for more pirates.
I guess what I'm saying is that there is no reason to ruin a good thing with sequels when the original was great and there are so many other stories with so much potential out there just waiting-itching-to be made and brought to the bored and desensitized masses. I don't know how I got to that but here I am. Let's get back to the basics please. And no more sequels!
This lovely rant brought to you by, yours truly, Liz (the all-out Doctor Who fanatic!)

Just Hangin' Around!
Hey everyone! It's liz this time! Just thought I'd give you my take on living here at Zion ponderosa. I think that Mary and I are doing very well now that we're over not having any cell phone service. So I've been doing some really cool stuff! I've gone on the bungee trampolene several times and I can now do a back flip in mid air, the zipline is awesome, and yesterday I laid out by the pool and got sunburned! Don't worry, I'm fine. Anyways, I guess there's really not much I've done besides that, and hiking, and going to St. George. Someday I'll make it out to Las Vegas to visit you Becky!
I guess I don't really have a whole lot to say, so I love you all and I'll talk to you later! And I'm going to try to get pictures from everyone else here for you to see! Much love!

a few weeks in
Hey here we are again. We dont really have too much to say cuz all we do is work and sleep and we dont even have the same hours. That kinda stinks but we are having fun here. We are meeting a lot of fun and new people and having a blast. Sometimes work gets a little stressful but now there are more people coming to work since school is over which will be a big help. Liz is going to be working in the resturaunt when it opens. She is pretty excited because even though she has to serve alcoholic beverages, she will be getting tips and she thinks it will be more fun than setting up the salad bar everyday. I am working the same hours as Jon who is now a sous chef and together we make all of breakfast, lunch and half of dinner everyday.
Liz and I have been having fun but we dont get to spend much time together. Hopefully we will be able to work that out so we can have more time. On the bright side, we do both have the opportunity to go to church on sundays. The ward consists of lots of kind elderly people but the workers from the various resorts around the area fill it up with a few more younger people.
Well thats really all I have to say for now. We havent had much of an opportunity to hike because of the hours we keep but we are hoping to do some more of that soon. This area is beautiful. Well, except for the flurry of snow that we had the other day but it will warm up fast I hope.
This is Mary signing off! tune in next time where we talk about volcanoes
